Me, On King

I started this blog as a way to spew my Steeler rants and raves without emailing them out every time I felt the need...which got to be pretty often. Since I know some of you guys read Peter King as well, I thought I'd write a tribute article this week. Sort of like when a band named "Black Diamond" plays nothing but Kiss songs. And I know Still A Dog will protest and say that I should just stop reading......I can't. I'm like a west coast granola eating liberal who can't stop watching The O'Reilly Factor just so they have something to complain about. For every three or four 7-page articles I read...I take away 1 or 2 sentences that are actually worth my while. I know this...... as a TV commentator, he's not even a good magazine writer. So, if you read his MMQB and MMQB Tuesday Editions every week, you'll "get" the article. If you don't read him, this won't make a lot of sense to you but you still may find it amusing.

Hey Sis, be careful what you wish for. You may be happy in Tom Brady's arms but I'll bet Bill Belichick is hiding in the closet videotaping it all! ...and studying the film afterwards!!!

Now Fan, you know better than to waste your time reading that blather that is Peter King. You're not his target audience. How does he consistently hit you? If you were a H.S. sophomore who read S.I. in the library during study hall I could understand. THAT is his target audience.

Anyway what you should be reading is a book called The Real All-Americans. You want to get a historical perspective on football, here it is.

It's a book about the Carlisle (PA) Industrial School football team. They were doing stuff shortly after the turn of the century that pro football didn't adopt until the 40s. Single wing, forward pass etc. There are some recognizable characters in the book. The coach of the team was Glenn "Pop" Warner. The star of the team was Jim Thorpe. Dwight Eisenhower played for Army at that time.

Anyway you'll learn a lot more and have far less to bitch about.
