Steely McBeam Update

Oooops, I almost forgot to mention the funniest thing that I witnessed while at the game last Monday night. During a TV timeout, they showed a promo on the scoreboard that revolved around kids. I can't remember what it was for because it got very loud when the spot ran. The kids looked to be between 5-10 years old and they were all sitting on aluminum bleachers with one very large kid in the back row. Hey, that's no kid....why it's Sucky McSuckSuck, the Steelers new mascot! The second he appeared on screen, the boo's started. It started slowly as people not looking at the screen had no idea what was going on. As more and more people looked around to see what was causing the "Boo's", it grew louder. It got to the point where if the guy was in the house, he probably ran for cover. I wish I could have seen the looks in the owner's box at that point. For all the good decisions that this team makes, that was a whopper of a bad one! Let's hope they put the costune in the closet (or brn it) after this 75th anniversary season ends (in February).

Is The Future In Good Hands?

I was reading some old articles from April in the Post-Gazette trying to find out info on the 75th Celebration Gala at the Convention Center the day before the MNF game with the Ravens. the Dog and I will be in town for the game...as will Still A South and his crew. I may be inclined to drive into the city for that as well. Anyway, I came across this and it may be telling of our future......

"The mascot, the brainchild of Art Rooney II, is a fellow with a black hardhat in Steelers colors, black overalls, a gold long-sleeve shirt with black piping, a surprisingly blond beard, black eyebrows and carrying a steel beam made of Styrofoam and, of course, a 75th-anniversary edition Terrible Towel."

Yup, Art II is to blame for Sucky McSuck Suck. Dude, your grandfather would SO not be proud!
