The Steelers solidified their backfield a little more this weekend resigning Verron Haynes to a superb contract. The backup RB and 3rd down pass catcher will receive $1.6 million dollars over 2 years. That's an outstanding contract for both parties. Verron receives a nice payday for as many touches as he gets and the Steelers retain a 4-year veteran who already knows their system. They will still probably draft a RB in the later rounds or take a shot with an undrafted free agent as they only have 3 RBs under contract. Last year they had 4 but typically only dressed 3. Resigning Verron is huge in my opinion because I think he can get the tough yards if (when is more like it) Duce goes down with an injury.
