Beating The Bush

Serious, this story is. Cindy Sheehan is "resigning" as the "face" of the anti-war movement. Good. At last count, only 17 people were showing up for her protests anyway. Speaking of "faces", Steel City Slant has uncovered the real reason behind the resignation. You know how they say roommates start to look like one another after living with each other for a long time or spending too much time together....spouses as well? Well, take a long long look at this picture, just in the face. Right there. Right there.....hold it. YES! Cindy Sheehan is so obsessed with George W. Bush that she is actually starting to look like him in the face! I don't care if it's not "prudent"...it's true! At the very least, she looks like Dana Carvey doing Bush the 41st. What a shame, all she thinks about is GWB and he could give a rat's ass about her. Good riddance. I think my feelings about her have been well expressed here in the past. Search the blog for Sheehan if you want to read them again.

Media Whore At It Again

I get so frustrated when I read about things like this. I've ranted and raved about this woman and what she symbolizes. I don't even have the energy to go back and add everything again that irks me about her. Three points need to be made about Cindy Sheehan that cannpt be disputed. Yes, she has excuses for everything - but they can't be disputed. Number 1: Her son enlisted in the service and then RE-enlisted after we had already invaded Iraq. Case closed. Number 2: Two Memorial Days passed after Casey Sheehan's death before a tombstone was placed on his grave. Number 3: Mom purchased a new car before she gave her own son a proper cemetary memorial - from the life insurance money provider to her on his death by the US government. I just read another article (that I won't even link because I don't want to give the website business) where she is claiming soldiers are being forced to re-enlist. I can believe they are being pressured, but forced? Isn't it amazing with as liberal as the US media is that this isn't a national story? How many troops are in Iraq? And nobody has shown up on Nightline or 20/20 to say they are being forced to re-enlist? Your son died. We get it. You're upset. You're mad. It was his choice though, not yours. You are quoted as saying "Bush killed my son." You may as well be a muppet because you are obviously under the control of the liberal spin doctors. You are their face and they are using you like a $50 hooker. I would rather die a hero on the battlefield than have my soul slowly killed and sucked dry by political leeches - but that's YOUR choice.

Snopes Version of Cindy Sheehan

For those who don't know....snopes.com is the authority on rumors and urban legends. Any email chain, any blog post of national interest - they are all over it. I mentioned Cindy Sheehan twice in the past and once just last week. That post received a comment from a "Cindy" of unknown origin that had a quote about being uninformed. However, from the comment she made and the comment preceeding it - I have no idea what it was in reference to. It could be my point of view, the administration, the public in general or the comment by Stilladog. In any event, I know the post came from New York and I know Sheehan lives in CA. I wish I knew if she was in New York when that post was made. I decided to find out how the poster found my site. It came from a blog search engine of "Cindy Sheehan" and my blog post was on page 6! So, somebody went through 6 pages of links to blog posts mentioning Cindy Sheehan. I wonder if they all got a comment? I'm going to research that a bit more tomorrow. Anway - I read a few of the other blog entries and I saw something that hit me as odd. Read This. It's about the grave marker (or lack of grave marker until recently) of her son Casey. Snopes.com knows the 4-1-1 and provides both sides of the story. I don't believe hers....simple as that. Maybe "Cindy" will have another comment next week? I've even heard she may run for president on the Green ticket. Hmmmmm. Well, she might get a few thousand votes. More power to her. It's a free country......thanks to people like her son. I would like to know how she felt about her son in the military before Iraq was invaded. Did she always have this point of view? I mean she has something to do with a book about why you shouldn't join the military! Egads, woman, enough!

Lucy, Can You 'Splain This To Me?

It's all over the net today that the 2,500th US soldier has died in Iraq. That's in a little over 3 years. Tragic as it is, that's about 1 death every 13 hours. Don't get me wrong, I don't anyone to die serving our country - but if we are at war - 1 death every 13 hours is amazing if you ask me. I saw there is a huge protest going on in DC today with protesters hovering around coffins with flags draped over them. I wonder many things as I see this. I wonder if any of them watched "Baghdad ER" on HBO where wounded soldiers cried because they couldn't go back to their units. I wonder if they know there are guys out there who sign back up after their tours are completed because they feel it's the right thing to do. I wonder if they know that Cindy Sheehan's son RE-ENLISTED after his first tour. These people will tell you that 1 death is too many. That's a stupid comment in my opinion. Of course 1 death is too many. Why don't you tell me the sky is blue while you're at it. Here is what really gets me. A quick google search on causes of death will show you that over 15,000 people die every year (yes, every year, not every 3) from DUI related deaths. Thats 1 death every 33 minutes according to their data. Why aren't people parading in the streets about that? Seriously...why not? And I picked something WAY down the list. Heart disease kills over 600,000 people a year but it would be harder to prevent. People will say the Iraq deaths could be prevented by not having them there in the first place. Well, that's true. But it's not like they're not doing any good. Saddam is out of power and al-Zaridiot has been killed along with WhoDey and WeDey. A democracy in it's infancy today will be much stronger in 25 years. What do we get for the DUI deaths? Nothing. We can't prevent them, you say? I say "Bullshit" (I'm feeling very eloquent today). You're telling me a country that put a man on the moon in the 60's can't invent a device to tell if a driver has been drinking? Sure, but it might raise the cost of the car $50-100. Oh. My bad. If we got the best engineers in the world together, we couldn't come up with some device or some method of keeping people with blood alcohol levels of .10 from starting their engine? No, but we can build cruise ships that hold 4,000 people and bridges that go on for miles and jets that fly faster than the speed of sound. Driving a car after 12 beers....we can't stop that. We can put a device on your windshield that allows you to get turn-by-turn driving directions from Mr. T to the closest Italian eatery, but we can't stop you from driving again if you have 3 bottles of wine while you're there. You could also stop it with legislation. First offense, same as it is now if there are no injuries to anyone but yourself. Second? You're done driving forever. Or, you lose 10% of future earnings to be given to affected families. You want people to stop, how about the death penalty if you kill another person? How about the death penalty for 3rd offense whether anyone was killed or not (because at 3 offenses it's only a matter of time). I'm not saying these are the laws I want - I'm saying if you wanted to dial back the deaths a little - this would do it. Again, don't get me wrong, DUI and MADD are not my fights of choice (actually, cancer is my fight of choice) but I picked it because every 33 minutes some lunkhead is likely to hit another car full of a family going to a park or something and dramatically changing everyone's life that is involved and nobody is really mad about it anymore. These people hear 2 more soldiers die and they rant and rave and get all worked up when they are there doing good (in my opinion) and yet every night on the news they don't even register that 48 people died of DUI related accidents. What's my point? I don't really know except that I wish these people that claim they are only angry at the deaths would focus some of that energy on problems that kill way more people and aren't politicized. I say that because had Bill Clinton sent troops to Iraq, I'm not sure these same people would be out there today protesting.

Feel free to email this article along to anyone you think may agree...or disagree.

Casey Sheehan, What The Left Doesn't Want You To Know

I personally feel bad for Cindy Sheehan. She lost her son. I have a daughter and cannot even imagine what that must be like. But, while I feel bad for her, I also wish she could just accept what happened and stop blaming people. The woman is so far removed from reality that she is now using moveon.org as a way to get her messages across and she is asking for Israel to make political concessions. I just found something out this week that makes me think of Cindy Sheehan in a new light. It's a fact that most news programs and newspapers overlooked (on purpose) when reporting the death of her son,Casey, in Iraq. While seeing her crying on TV and going after Bush by protesting the war at his ranch - it was easy to get the impression that Casey was an unwilling participant in the war. If you heard her speak, you would almost think GW Bush himself came into Sheehan's house at night, put a pillow case over his head, drugged him and took him away to fight in his war. Well, most reports leave out 2 tidbits of information when citing this story. Casey's first 4-year tour of duty ended while we were already in Iraq. Casey decided at the end of 4 years he liked what he was doing and signed on for another tour. Interesting, no? Not only that, even though he was a mechanic and stationed in a place where he wasn't in much danger HE VOLUNTEERED for the dangerous mission that he didn't return from. In my book, that makes Casey a hero. Cindy Sheehan should be proud of her son for what he did and I'm sure in some way she is, but she is now using his death to promote her views on the war, the government and the middle east crisis and they are obviously different from what Casey believed. She recently coauthored a book entitled something like "10 Reasons Why You Should Not Join The Military". Great. Thanks, Cindy. While your son was a true American patriot, you are starting to smell more and more like a political opportunist every day. Nobody wants to attack a grieving mother but that ticking sound you hear is your untouchable period coming to an abrupt end.
