Coke Out For Season
Well, I hate to see anyone injured - but if we are going to lose someone for the season, it isn't terrible that it's Coke. Reid and Holmes will take over punt duties and the replacement in some of the nickel and dime packages CAN'T be worse than Coke. I try not to dislike any player and I want Coke to succeed, but for some reason, I don't see him developing into a player. Hopefully, while he's off, he'll continue to learn the playbook, watch tape and understand the defense better. However, I'm on record right now as saying I'll be surprised if he makes the team next year in camp. You read it here first.

This is what I'd call a little "Maddox Magic."
Cowher is so headstrong and bullheaded about veteran players that even when a rookie clearly outplays said veteran he rides the pine until the football gods take over and something tragic happens.
I too am never glad to see a player injured. But Coke's injury giving way to Reid being activated is Maddox II. I can just about guarantee that Big Ben would have taken fewer NFL snaps than Phillip Rivers by now had Tommy Maddox not been injured in the first Baltimore game in 2004.
And so the torch passes -and let me be very clear on this- because Cowher has no other choice. These things have always worked out well in the past. So it is that I believe Retardo Chokely's injury will prove to be a blessing in disguise as well.
Here We Go Steelers! Here We Go!!
