FAN: Holmes Traded For Bag of Balls

Well the Rooneys got a little respect back by trading repeat offender Santonio Holmes to the Jets. Holmes got the NFL equivalent of one US dollar in trade value by garnering a 5th round pick in this year's draft.

The Steelers solved multiple problems with this move. First, rumor has it that he was busted for drugs again and will be suspended for the first four games this season. Second, he is in the last year of his rookie contract and had little chance of being resigned by the Steelers. He will want crazy money and you never know what this loose cannon will do.

Instead of allowing him to play 12 games and walk, the Steelers thought the pricetag of getting some respect back was right at a 5th rounder. Management has been getiing killed in the blogosphere and sports websites for allowing better players to slide on conduct issues. Saying buh bye to Holmes was going to happen next February anyway so they jsu speeded up the process.

Now we will absolutely draft a receiver in the first 3 picks and Mike Wallace just got his chance to shine.

Still A. While said...

Glad he is gone. Now just to await the verdict on Benny.

BTW - got an autographed copy of Ruanaidh - the story of the Rooney clan and 2 signed terrible towels (Frano and Woodruff) yesterday at a silent auction! :-)
