Doesn't Duce look good in a sweatsuit? He should get paid endorsements for wearing sweatsuits since that's all he does. The Steelers released the list of players that did NOT take part in the opening running drills that coach Cowher does every year on Day 1 to gauge the fitness level of his players. You would think at some point Duce would just man-up and do something...ANYTHING....to prove to this city and his teammates that he is tough enough to be the bruising back he was brought here to be. Doesn't he understand if gave 120% this city would adopt him and worship him? It's hard goddamn work getting paid that much money to sit in a tub of ice and hold coach Cowher's headset cables. Am I alone on this?

Duce looks good in a sweatsuit. That's how he got a ring... besides being the whole rushing attack in the Green Bay game last year.
He wasn't going to beat Verron (who didn't run either), Fast Willie, or Cedric Humes in a sprint anyway. Kreider, maybe. And those are the guys most likely to tote the pig this year, besides Duce himself.
Cowher was probably afraid he'd blow out a hamstring or something. Didn't want a repeat of what happened to LeCharles Bentley in Browns camp.
I just hope Duce gets as much work this season as he appears to be giving to his Johnson. I've seen the posted photo half-a-dozen times yet nobody ever seems to point out that Duce has both hands inside his pants (not his pockets)keeping ole Johnson ready for action. If you can't get in the game at least you can do your (6 minute)workout on the sideline!
I'd like to see Duce in action too. But I'll reserve my judgement on him until Sept. 7th.
CAMP NOTES: Nine players didn't take part in the traditional run-test but did their own running off to the side. Joey Porter, Charlie Batch, Jeff Hartings, Casey Hampton, Max Starks, Shaun Nua, Duce Staley, Verron Haynes and Walter Young. Those players either are coming off surgeries, or reported with minor injuries, or they have existing conditions that aren't conducive to the test.
