What was Bruce thinking throwing on 3rd down when Baltimore was out of timeouts? With two minutes to go they could have taken at least 45 seconds off the clock. I just don't get it. Once Ben had to scramble he should have went into a fetal position. To throw a pic at that point is crazy stupid. I feel like we won because of the Raven penalty on that play. If there was no flag I really think we lose.

Yup. Exactly. BA is NOT a genius.
If Arians somehow gets to keep his job because Ben likes him then we ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY, MUST get someone else to call plays on gameday.
I've been saying for a long time that Arians has put together a good offensive system. But how he uses the tools he's designed is atrocious.
You are forgetting that Big Ben has the power to check out of what BA calls and I think Ben does it a lot more than the Steelers admit. It might not be all BA for those bad offensive calls. It shows a lot of Benny Ego who could be switching to deep throws on third and one.
I believe BA called the pass on 3rd down with 2 minutes left and the Shitbirds out of timeouts. I said to my buddy he would be stupid enough to pass there. He's too confident. He needs to read a book on risk analysis.
And the fact that it was a long pass is irrelevent. An incomplete pass stops the clock. One yard or 40 yard bomb. They should have ran their best running play designed for 10 yards and then allowed the clock to run out and take the 5 yard penalty. All of that is 45 to 50 seconds to happen. A punt is another 10. Give Flacco a minute is much better than what happened minus the penalty. They picked and returned way too far.

I have no problem with Ben checking out of some of the stuid stuff Arians calls. 5 wide empty backfield on 3rd & 1 is plain dumb. Even if you're planning on passing at least give the defense the thought that you might run it.
Arians problem is that he has no "feel" for the game. Consequently his play selection resembles plays chosen from a grab bag or magic 8-ball at random. At least a veteran QB who is on the field has a feel for what might work because he gets input from other players in the huddle plus what he's experiencing/seeing himself.
Manning does it and Favre does too. Hell, Favre sends entire personnel packages back to the sidelines when he doesn't like what the coaches have called!
Just because a guy can design and build a fast race car doesn't make him a champion driver.
