Of the three notable no-shows at Steelers minicamp Friday, two gave coach Mike Tomlin what he called "legitimate" excuses. Linebacker Clark Haggans is tending to a family issue, and safety Troy Polamalu is taking a faith-based trip he had planned well before Tomlin scheduled the first of two minicamps this year.
As for Alan Faneca, Tomlin didn't offer any reasons for his absence. Though the perennial Pro Bowler appears to be making a statement about the lack of progress on a possible contract extension.
Faneca was at the Steelers' South Side practice facility Thursday, but he didn't take part in either of yesterday's practices.

That's great. But were there any defensive players present? Or even Alan Faneca for that matter?
Faneca was not there.
From the Pgh Post Gazette....
