When: Nov 5 Where: Heinz Field

Who? The hated Ravens! Are you ready for some football? Thanks to my Detroit Connection (we'll call him Still A. Motor) both myself and Still A. Dog will be heading to The 'Burgh for the Monday Night Football game against the Ravens (Caaaw, Caaaw) on November 5th, one day before my 39th birthday. Does that mean The Dog has to buy my ticket? Nah! I got it covered. The Dog knows more about Pittsburgh than some people who live there as it used to be his stomping grounds, so a sandwich for lunch at a local haunt will do for a birthday celebration. I'm sure I speak for The Dog as well, but the Steeler Game weekend trip that I make every year always ends up being a superb time for me. I get to spend time with my brother from another mother, I get to see my homeboy Big W and the rest of his crazy coworkers from Genco who graciously take us in every year and let us partake at their tailgate party, I get to spend some quality time with Still A. Dad and hopefully cross paths with Cornbread and see some other really special friends that I miss like crazy - and basically just relax knowing I don't have to rake leaves at the house or do anything else but sit, eat, tailgate and spend time with some of the best people on the planet. I can't wait. This gives me something to look forward to.

Maybe we can have your birthday party Saturday night @ Bud's where you can invite your old friends to join us, and where I can walk home if I get drunk... assuming I can walk? Or Sunday where we can watch some other football?

I'll buy you lunch at the Original Oyster House in Market Square. Fish sandwich and a beer. Oldest restaurant west of the Alleghenies. Building goes back to 1790 when Market Square was the "commons" for the early Pittsburgh settlers. Take me back to the BiCentennial. When I used to cut class in the morning, play frisbee and smoke Mexican cigarettes at Point State Park, and grab a fish and a beer on my way back to school.

Unfortuntely, I don't believe the fine Market Square establishment, Gallagher's pub is in existence any more or we'd go there too. I took my first legal drink of liquor there on Dec. 2, 1975 at 11:00am. A shot of Old Grandad whiskey with (and I'm not making this up) a gentleman named Rick Seamen. Yep, Mr. & Mrs. Seamen named their son, Dick... and Don Imus was making fun of the LaQueesha's of the world!!

Anyway, don't worry 'bout them leaves. Down below the Dixon line we just cut 'em up and spit 'em in the neighbor's yard. Of course we are sometimes still mowing leaves into December or after the first snowfall. You gonna have a good birthday, Fan. A MNF win vs. the TurdBirds will just be icing on the cake!
