Makes You Say, Huh?

We went to a retro diner tonight for dinner...kind of like a Johnny Rocket knockoff - burgers, shakes, rings, etc. How much more American can you get than the retro diner? The Germans didn't put chili on a hotdog, did they? What struck me as odd at this place as soon as we rolled up to the counter to be seated was the diversity of the work force. I expect it at McDonald's. I'm used to it at Taco Bell. But when the guy walking me to my table at the all American retro diner barely speaks English - it's just a tad odd. There were more workers who think cows are holy in that place tonight than there were in the entire United States in 1955. One could also make the argument that that's progress. Another weird thing I saw tonight was Christmas lights in a yard on the way home. It's February 29th. No, they were Christmas lights, there were candy canes. I kid you not. Red and White sticky goodness and I'm not talking about the waitress pictured here. Christmas Lights! The only valid excuse for that is if the homeowners died in the house, they have no relatives and the lights were on a timer.

Dog: I'll have the curry chicken burger and the $5 shake.

PinkyPie (waitress): You want that shake Amos & Andy or Martin & Lewis?

Dog: Amos & Andy. And can I have a slice of that pink pie for dessert?

PinkyPie: Lick my dot!
