Slanted Simon Says - Ladies Week 1

I enjoyed tonight's episode more than the men's. Without any commentary at all - here is how I rank the 12 women. The judges seemed to prefer Carly and Ramiele to Syesha, but I think their opinions are based more on past performances than strictly tonight.

1. Syesha
2. Carly
3. Asia'h
4. Alaina
5. Ramiele
6. Amanda
7. Kady
8. Alexandrea
9. Kristy
10. Brook
11. Joann
12. Amy

Is it me.......or is there something 'off' about 2 of the blond girls eyes?
They look weird.
They look scared too.
I wonder what they are all thinking as they stand in the background watching another contestant performing.......could it be "You are SUCH a bitch and I hate you and look at my nice blond hair and I am sooooooo going to stand by Ryan Seacrest and smile pretty for the camera. Oh, and look at my boobs."

I wouldn't buy any American Idols CD, but I admit I am hooked on the show in a guilty pleasure kind of way. As far as the males go that Australian guy is the best singer and that young kid with the black hair will have teenage girls going crazy so I feel those two have the strongest chance to win in a pretty weak mens top 12. I'm not familiar with the girls by names yet, but the clean cut one with the curly blonde hair is gonna definitely get the boot. I dig the rocker chick but she may scare middle america and teens to death so I don't think she's gonna be around long either. The little asian girl may just suprise alot of people and be there at the end. The women's side is definitely stronger this season. That tattooed girl doesn't show me much and seems overhyped like Simon said;-) I liked the blonde who sand "A Groovy Kind of Love" and thought she did well even though the judges felt she was dull. That girl is an amazing singer! American Idol is more of a popularity and beauty contest than a singing contest so the best singer doesn't always win. Should be fun to see what happens this year.

P.S.
It is a gay show. No doubt about that;-) LOL I thought it was funny last night when that rocker girl said she was so embarrassed when they told her to dance for a promo. I laughed because I always thought those dancing promos are gay too;-) And why does every single contestant feel a need to hold up the appropriate number of fingers when they put up the phone # to vote? Like we can't read?

thanks JT. nice to hear another dude check in! it may be time for you to get your own slanted pack nickname. i'm thinking "still a jet"?

i'm going to post results like this every week and start to add more as more people leave.

my wife and daughter own some kelly clarkson stuff and carrie underwood as well. clarkson, at the time she won the contest, could sing with ANYBODY on the market with the exception of a precious few. i think that alone gives some legitimacy to the show.

there's nothing wrong with chris daughtry either. i like the same kind of music he does and i like his voice. getting a record deal always was a popularity contest. so now, maybe we get american idols on the radio instead of some other girl who slept her way to a recording contract. it's actually more fair. mariah banged tommy motola to the tune of millions of sales and dollars. true, she can sing too, but many people can sing. you have to have opportunities to break through.

Me and my girls are going to the Carrie Underwood concert tomorrow night.
But what ever happend to Taylor Hicks? I really liked him but he flopped.

"still a jet"? I love it! Well Kelly Clarkson I actually like and own a couple of burned CD's of hers. Daughtry...I never really heard his own music. The best thing that ever happened to Daughtry was NOT winning American Idol because it enabled him to do his own thing. I basically hate pop and country music these days because it's a beauty contest and all image. You almost have to look like a model to even get a shot at being signed to a major label or making it to MTV/VH-1;-( I have to admit I found Kellie Pickler to be amusing.
When it comes to music I still love the originals. Beatles, KISS(my favorite band), Cash, Willie, Waylon, Elvis.

i bought KISS Alive II in 3rd grade. THIRD GRADE! the other kids for record day were taking in willie wonka and shit and I walk in with the demon child bleeding on the back cover. i'll never forget her face when she told me we couldnt play that album. even though i can admit their songs are simplistic, i still like them and they are (well, were) great performers. it's not a jam night if our band doesnt play at least 1 KISS song.

and i'm thinking mis should have registered as "still a while".

you know why.

Cool. Alive 2 was the first album I ever bought. Being a kid KISS fan back then was special because they were (no pun intended) larger than life. Of course the look and blood and mystique of the band is what drew most kids but to me the music has always been great. Pretty much everything KISS did musically up until 1980 has stood the test of time and still sounds cool to me. There were some okay tunes in the 80's and 90's, but the magic was the original four from 74-79. If KISS would've hung it up after the reunion tour it would have been the perfect full circle ending but they continue. I'd like to see the original four reunite for one last show and call it quits. I'm hoping that happens before one of them dies! And not having KISS in the hall of fame? Absurd. They have had such a impact and influence on the entire music industry. They are icons.

Alive II was my first "real" album as well. I just listened to it the other day on my iPod at work. they have like 25 gold LPs....it's insane not to have them in the HOF.

i've read the books by gene. his marketing got a little ridiculous more than a while ago, but yeah, i saw the priginal reunion tour after the mtv unplugged and it was like i was 14 all over again. couldnt begint o imagine the number of hours spent listening to KISS in my lifetime. it's an age thing as well. i'm sure those who were young adults when they came out left soon after. i was born in 68 and grew up with them.

I'm the same age as you so I totally relate to KISS making me feel like I was ten again. Whenever I hear a old KISS CD or watch old video footage, it brings me right back to those days. My ID on several KISS boards is "rocksteady76". I tell the younger fans that it was such a great time to be a KISS fan because as kids the band were like real-life superheroes to us. The fact that we didn't know what KISS looked like without the make-up and that we rarely saw them on TV just made it even more magical. "Dazed and Confused" and "Detroit Rock City" movies captured that vibe pretty well. To go buy a new KISS album back then and listen to it and get the treats inside was such a event. LOL My brother bought me all four solo '78 albums on 8-track for Christmas. LOL
Gene is pretty much an ass and a greedy S.O.B. but others would call him a savvy businessman. I don't agree with his views about most things in life but I love his music and he's a legend. I just read KISS sold out 35,000 tickets in less than 30 minutes for the Sweden show so they are still drawing crowds even though the current line-up sucks and the band should've hung it up ten years ago;-)
