People keep asking me, "Dog, you live among these idiots. Are these Baltimore Shitbird fans stupid or just delusional? They talk like they've won the Super Bowl already."
I say, "Do you know Edgar Allen Poe? The guy who authored The Raven, the piece of literature for which their team is named?" And I quote from the writings of Edgar Allen Poe himself, “Stupidity is a talent for misconception.”
This defense of theirs is based on false bravado. That's why they are always talking. Always woofing. Always making themselves sound tough. They have created a misconception for their fanbase, and the media as well. Those who are really tough don't have to say a word.

dude looks like bill murray and charlie chaplin had a love child.
Never liked any of his stuff.
Weird.
To each his own though.
I never understood why people name teams after birds. Really.
Eagle. Ok. Hawk. Fine.
But Cardinal, Oriole, and Bluejay?
What?
Those are wimpy birds you find dead on your doorstep as a present from your cat.
Dude. I hear ya. I have been stuck in the Baltimore Area (Pasadena) for quite a few years now, but when we go to the local Steeler's Bar (Bamboo Bernies), it is like coming home to Pittsburgh. These ratbird fans are idiots and we have to endure this crap time and time again. I really hope we put it to them. The purple will be put away and they will (hopefully) shut their mouths until the next season starts.
Go STEELERS!
Joe
@While: Good thing Benjamin Franklin didn't have his way, otherwise our national bird would have been the turkey!
@Joe: And while I do think the Steelers will take the shitbirds, get ready for another round of "The refs gave them the game because the NFL wants the Steelers in the SB," -- or some other lame conspiracy theory. The fans take after Ray Lewis, and won't stop jibbering, ever.
I had no idea about the Turkey thing!
Well, I think Baltimore should change from Ravens to Turkeys - a much better fit.
Chickens will be next.
Ok, this is funny.
On the news today they are saying our wonderful mayor Lukey is changing his name from Luke Ravenstahl to Luke Steelerstahl.
I really wish Pittgirl was still blogging......darn.
I would like to think Three is wrong, but he's not.
Beating them will only make them want to BE us more. It's driving them insane! They will say anything to convince themselves they aren't crazy.
Conspiracy theories, referee bias, unfair advantages. Anything but their team isn't quite as good as the Steelers. Denial.
I have watched an otherwise nice bunch of people morph into the biggest pack of assholes I've ever seen just in the last 4 days.
This game is EXTREMELY important to win and it goes way beyond the AFC Championship.
Joe: You ever watch a Stiller game down at the old Purple Goose? The Goose used to be the home of the Baltimore chapter of the Pittsburgh Steeler Fan Club. They used to have free kegs in the parking lot at 10:00am for a 1:00 game. I went there for a Bengals game some years back and the place was crazy. It's under different managment now and not even called the Purple Goose anymore. I don't know where the fan club meets for games nowadays.
Dog:
We went to the Goose once. It was against the new Cleve Brownies on November 16th, 1999. We were standing elbow to elbow with other Steeler fans and it felt like we had come home. The 16-15 Browns win was a heartbreaker and we never went back there. Parking was a challenge and it is no longer a Steeler bar, but a ratbird roost now.
We next found Shooters, which was closer to home. Same nice Steeler atmosphere, but parking and sitting space still a pain. They too tried to become a roost, but failed and it is once again a Steeler bar, just not a PSFCOM bar.
Now we go to Bernies. Within drunk walking distance to home, plenty of parking and drinking space. Love it! http://psfcom.net lists all the club bars and they have had some media exposure lately, both in ratbird land and in the Burgh.
Love being a Steeler fan here. We all know that Baltimore is Steeler Country.
Not only is Ravenstahl changing his name to Steelerstahl, but Barack Obama is changing his name to Willie Parker!
