- We drove 92 yards down the field against the #2 defense in the NFL and put the ball in the end zone on a day when touchdowns appeared to be impossible... with time running out.
- It was a touchdown and here's why. As soon as the ball hits Holmes hands, the catch is secured. It just stuck there with no hesitation, no bobbling the ball. It was a clean reception the moment the ball touched his hands. And at that point, the ball was also touching the goal line. He further secured the ball to his body and then fell back into the field of play. Ball over the plane, check. Ball securely caught, check. Both feet down in the end zone, check. TOUCHDOWN.
Now if the Baltimore fans want to complain about the officiating, they should go back to the stuff of Russell on third and one. On that play the refs gave us a first down which Harbaugh challenged and lost. But I did not see the ball advance far enough for a first down. We did get lucky on that one.
Alas, that's the way it goes in football these days. How many times was James Harrison held yesterday with not one call? The bad/missed calls go both ways. Eventually you just hope they even out over the course of a game.
Bottom line here is that the vaunted Raven Defense (led by the murdering thug himself, Ray Lewis) could not stop our pathetic offense once in Ninety-Two Yards with the game on the line.
Arians must have been reading the blog as he actually attempted the high pass to Spaeth that Fan recommended last week. Although the big goof Spaeth was neither in the end zone nor in possesion of the ball.
The Cowboys thought 52 minutes of football was enough. It was not. The Ravens learned that 57 minutes is not enough either.
AFC North Champions for what that's worth. Got to keep chopping that wood... this week in Tennessee. Here We Go!

I'm with you on this one. Reminds me of the Super Bowl with Seattle fans crying about "that wasn't a push off" in the end zone.
I've always felt that a game shouldn't be decided upon by one call. For example, I've seen bad call after bad call go against the Steelers -- but I often don't hear our fans crying. Why? Because the Steelers shrug it off, get out there and let their play dictate the win or loss.
Or let me phrase it another way -- if someone (ie, another team) is so sure that the refs are biased, then why not take them out of the mix by stepping up, playing lean, mean and clean, and flat-out whomping the Steelers?
Bottom line: You don't go 11-3 in this league by crying and whining about calls. You do it by making plays when the plays count. The Steelers stepped up when they needed to. The Ravens didn't. End of story.
Plus, we handed them the ball on the 15 yard line and they couldn't score.
Man, Ben and Hines and Nate made HUGE plays on that final drive! Against the vaunted Raven defense. In Baltimore. With the division title on the line. 'Nuff said! Our defense won it for us again though. Baltimore was averaging alot of points the last 7 or 8 games and bottom line how many did they get against us? 3 FG's. Flacco looked confused.
Ben is the best clutch QB in the league right now. Screw stats - I don't give a shit about them or QB ratings- all I care about is wins and Ben is at the top of the list. As for the controversial call it was so close to me it was hard to say. I've got to be honest I don't even know the rule. Does the ball itself have to cross the goal line for it to be a TD? The Ravens definitely did get ripped on that one bad spot but as you said I saw Silverback get clearly held more than once and nobody called that! I have and always will hate instant replay. It does nothing but slow down the game because now we are having controversy over the replays! Regardless of what happens from this point it has already been a magical year for us but I want more!! Do you guys think us having the #1 seed will be a good thing? I definitely want a rest week but call me crazy I'm hoping for the #2 seed! BTW I am loving the new format here:-)
Still A Jet, thanks! Dog is loose and Michael Vick is nowhere in sight. I agree with all of your assessments with the exception of wanting the game at home. Winning AFC Championship Games at home was Cowher's issue. I'm hoping Tomlin will start his own tradition of winning them! :)
Three, Is that your Boston Terrier in the picture?
We have 2.
Anyway, great game.
My husband was lucky enough to get tickets for the playoff games.
Now I can sit at home and watch the game on the big screen in peace!
ha
While.....
Next time you send a Christmas card to my house with a beach photo on it, at least move the kids so I can see more of "mom". :)
As far as the playoff seeds go, I don't care if we get the #1 or #2. I just don't want to play the Ravens anymore. We beat them twice, that's enough. I'd like another shot at the Colts though.
But honestly, I'll take the Mike Tomlin approach here. We will line up and play against whoever it is we are assigned to play that week... and whip their ass.
amen! i wonder if roethlisberger ever thought he might get the chance to play brett favre to GET to the super bowl. tomlin needs to keep them focused.
Did you notice the umbrella in the picture!
Nothing like taking Steeler Nation to the beach!
@Still A. While: Actually, the dog is my mom's dog -- he's Cody the Wonder Boxer. I could see how you would confuse him for a Boston Terrier due to the size of the photo, but if you saw it larger, his breed would be clear. :D
Three, Boxer or Boston -he sure is cute.
Unlike Ben - I wont go there or the other Dog will rip me a new one.
