Marv Albert "backed" into the role of the best announcer for the Super Bowl by showing some emotion during the Eli Manning to David Tyree pitch and catch....something Joe Buck failed to do. Awful Announcing sunk their teeth into this story and did a great job as I was thinking the same thing while watching. I work with a die-hard Giant's fan and he swore on Monday morning the announcing was slanted against the G-Men. Marv's version definitely had more bite. Sorry.

The networks have taken all the fun out of sports announcing. Dick Enberg is old as dirt and doesn't get the big assignments anymore. Marv Albert, after his prostitute molestation incident has worked his way, and his toupee', all the way back to a big time radio gig. Drunk driving in Nebraska relegated Brent Musberger to college football at best. Soon they will be going the route of Enberg and Keith Jackson before him. Albert does have a son with potential, moreso than Joe "my name is Buck and I like to *uck... boys" -apologies to Tarantino.
Joe Buck always looks like he's hiding a cucumber in his pants when he gazes up into Troy Aikman's eyes, lovingly. And his makeup makes him look, well, somewhat multi-racial anyway.
Joe should go back to interior design / home decorating. Or perhaps as Maitre D' at one of the fine J. Bucks restaurants in St. Louis.
I agree with the dude on that link who said Joe doesn't even like sports. He just got into it because that's what made daddy famous.
On the other hand you got young guys with real potential getting fired at ESPN (The Disney Sports Network-- all fantasy, no substance) for saying that receivers need soft hands because they are "tender" to "caress" the ball and "that's kind of gay, but hey..."
Well, it does sound gay. And it's also often true. Why do you think T.O. is so good?
Buck is horrible and Aikman is about as exciting as watching paint dry. Buck's lack of emotion on the amazing Eli scramble/Tyree play and Burress's SB 42 winning TD catch were only topped by Jim Lampley's reaction to the biggest upset in sports history - Mike Tyson getting ko'ed by Buster Douglas. Dig up Howard Cosell. He'd still be more entertaining than those guys;-)
