200 Pound Tumor
If you get a chance - you should watch Discovery Health's 1 hour documentary on the removal of a 200 pound tumor from a 120 pound woman. This is no joke. It happened a few years ago and surprisingly I just heard about it. I was flipping around the stations tonight and saw it. They had to create a harness/lift above the operating table to lift the tumor off as they cut it and closed off arteries. I thought I was going to throw up a few times, but I couldn't stop watching. I'm not trying to be sick or gross, but it looked sort of like Jabba The Hut. She lost over 40 pints of blood during the operation which is 5 times your normal body amount. I can't even get into why they didn't start earlier, it only grew to that size at the very end and it happened very quickly. She had some sort of condition where she had multiple benign tumors her entire life and several of them grew to the size of softballs before they were removed. I'll tell you what, watching this documentary will make you feel pretty silly for wanting to lose 10 pounds for vanity's sake. There are a ton of articles on this case - just google "200 pound tumor".
